Is Putin the biblical figure known as "Gog"? Make no mistake: the Russian-Iranian strategic alliance that I’ve been writing about for the last several years has deepened to the point where Moscow is now unequivocally and quite openly backing the mullahs in Iran. “Russia warned Israel on Wednesday that attacking Iran would be a disastrous and played down the failure of a U.N. nuclear agency mission to Tehran, saying there is still a chance for new talks over the Iranian atomic programme,” reports Reuters. “‘Of course any possible military scenario against Iran will be catastrophic for the region and for the whole system of international relations,’ Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told a news conference. It was one of Russia’s starkest warnings against resorting to force, an option Israel and the United States have not ruled out if they conclude that diplomacy and increasing sanctions will not stop Iran from developing a nuclear bomb. ’I hope Israel understands all these consequences … and they should also consider the consequences of such action for themselves,’ Gatilov said. ‘I hope a realistic approach will prevail, along with a sensible assessment.’”
The big question now is this: Will Vladimir Putin win his bid for become Russia’s President again during the March 4 elections, and would Putin then directly threaten Israel with retaliation for an attack on Iran? So far, Russia hasn’t gone so far as to threaten a military response, but it’s not out of the question. The latest poll shows Putin in a commanding lead to regain the presidency, with 58.6% support, compared to Gennady Zyuganov, the head of the Communist Party, who has 14.8% support. And Putin in recent years seems itching to rebuild the Russian military (something he promised again just this week – he’s called for a $770 billion upgrade of Russia’s military), strengthen his alliances throughout the Islamic world, and give the West a black eye. He’s explicitly running his campaign on anti-Americanism, for example. He’s close to the Iranians. He’s defending the Bashar al-Assad, the butcher in Damascus. He’s growing closer to the Turks, as they become hostile to Israel. Putin hasn’t directly threatened Israel, but he’s backing all of Israel’s worst enemies and could find himself drawn into a war to prove his alpha-dog machismo.
Another question I’m getting asked these days: Is Putin “Gog,” the evil leader described in the prophecies of Ezekiel 38-39? It came up during my recent speaking tour in Florida, and in a talk I gave to a group on Capitol Hill last week? Thus far, my answer remains the same — Putin is certainly “Gog-esque,” but it is too early to speculate on whether he is actually the biblical figure that will rise to power in Russia (known in Ezekiel’s prophecy as “Magog”) in the last days and build an alliance with Iran (“Persia”), Sudan (“Cush”), Turkey (“Gomer”), Libya and Algeria (“Put”), the countries of Central Asia (“Beth Togarmah”) to attack the State of Israel from “the north” (probably via Lebanon and Syria). That said, it is fair to say that geopolitical events over the past decade — and certainly over the past year or so — have been moving on a trajectory consistent with the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38-39. That doesn’t necessarily mean we will see the prophecies come to complete fulfillment in our lifetime or soon, but we cannot rule out the possibility.
For the moment, the major need is to keep mobilizing people to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and to keep asking that the Lord to help us get ready for the next war that comes, be that a really bad geopolitical war (ie, an Israeli first strike on Iran, or vice versa), or a prophetic war (ie, the War of Gog and Magog). One way or the other, it would seem that war is coming. The handwriting seems to be on the wall. Dare we allow ourselves to be unprepared?

Hi there Bob; you have not posted the latest news flash that Van Rompuy is going to be re-appointed as the president of the EU Council of Ministers. Without prejudice, does that suggest that you are still in a state of denial relative to the possibility that Van Rompuy could be the Antichrist after all? Many who posted suggested Sarko could be the next one in line for the presidency of the EU; however, the likelihood of that now happening is almost nonexistent? Even though you never actually said so in so many words, there was even one stage when you appeared to think yourself that Sarko was going to be the next EU president, and now with this latest news this does not appear to have happened. What that also means is that Van Rompuy is going to chair the EU Summits, and that eventually he might receive ultimate power as the full time president of the EU, as per usual, only time will tell though? It is really high time that I got on with updating my own blog to keep those who read it informed of the latest news relative to the end times. Cheerio for the time being and God bless.
Now wait to see if Sarko is re-elected as I am now thinking that he will not be and that he was only there to ease Van Rompuy into the role as the first ever president of the EU
There is going to be a lot written over the next few days and weeks relative Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd's decision to resign that position citing that he was a destabilizing influence on the leadership on the Australian government over leadership issues. With his ultimate ambition to obtain a seat on the UN General Assembly, it seems that with his latest trip to the U.S. he obtained just that and as a consequence used the excuse mentioned above as the pretext to offer up his resignation. What that means is that Kevin Rudd is nothing more than a blatant liar. Even if the Australian Prime Minister Ju-liar Gillard was to have a ballot on Monday over leadership issues, and Rudd contests that ballot it is doubtful he is going to have the numbers to be able to get up and effectively claim victory. Certainly, he will not go to the backbench as he has already lined up a job with the UN, which of course means that there is then going to be by-election for his seat in parliament. Of course, that also may mean that there are going to be others who are in the Rudd camp who will follow suite and resign their positions in the Australian Government forcing a general election. Because of his actions, Kevin Rudd is one of the most despicable and dishonest politicians that we have ever had to misfortune to initially elect as an Australian Prime Minister. His latest act of betrayal, not just to the Australian government, but also to the Australian people in general testifies to that reality. Consequently, He is guilty of no lesser charge than treason and should be put on trial for being the criminal that he is. As for the comments of his daughter on Twitter, by dropping the F bomb and then adding well-done Dad, all that she has shown with that type of remark is what a foul mouthed lot of grubs this family really is. Please note that in the making of the aforementioned remarks, I hold no affiliation to any political party whatsoever. Consequently, there is no self-interest involved at all in any statement that I have made in the above. Be Blessed
There have been some who have suggesting that I have been far too harsh with some of my comments concerning Kevin Rudd wanting to contest the leadership of the Federal Government once again after having being removed initially to be then given the appointment as Australia's Foreign Minister. However, because of the circumstance of his demotion it is quite common knowledge amongst those who are watching these types of events unfold that there is no love lost between him and his successor, Julia Gillard. The facts of the matter appear to be that they despise each other. As that is the case, there are those who are then suggesting that all that we are seeing going on here is nothing much more than a payback type of exercise because she replaced him in the first place. In addition, as the Australian Government only holds onto the reins of power by a very slight majority the possibility that if defeated at the voting count on Monday Kevin Rudd will not go to the backbench, but will instead force a by-election for his seat in the parliament. If that were ever to be the circumstance then there is also the very strong likelihood that others will follow suite thereby bringing down the entire government. Accordingly, what we are seeing going on with this election for the leadership that is to take place on Monday is really nothing much more than one of the most selfish acts of betrayal against an Australian Federal Government by a former leader this country has ever witnessed.
